WHY ORTHODONTICS?Many studies suggest that straight and white teeth signal many positive traits such as sophistication, organization, a sense of being “put together,” and overall success. Additionally, straight teeth are highly correlated with beauty in western culture. There is a correlation between employment/employability and healthy smiles. Why sell yourself short if you know you have a smile that could use improvement?

EXTENSIVE TRAININGDr. Cappuccio and the team at Seneca Ridge Dental are extensively trained in the use of clear aligner systems. Clear orthodontic aligners, such as the aligners produced by companies like “Invisalign” and “ClearCorrect,” move your teeth through the use of clear plastic trays that apply forces to the teeth and supporting structures. The trays are manufactured to be used in sequence, usually worn for two weeks at a time. Patient progress through their trays or “aligners” and over the course of treatment the teeth move to the desired position. Patients report that clear aligners are much easier to use and wear than traditional braces, that they are nearly invisible and very esthetic, and that they are extremely effective. The flexibility of being able to remove your “braces” improves compliance and gives the best treatment outcomes.

WHY WE FAVOR CLEARCORRECT?Dr. Dave has extensive experience with both ClearCorrect and Invisalign. Through comparison of cases and treatment outcomes, he has evidence to suggest that “ClearCorrect” aligners actually move teeth more effectively than “Invisalign” aligners.
The key is in how well the aligners can apply forces to different parts of the teeth. Based on the design of ClearCorrect aligners, Dr. Cappuccio believes that the aligners can apply a greater variety of forces to more parts of the teeth than Invisalign aligners. By bringing the aligner margin up past the gingival margin, you see improved retention, a more intimate and comfortable fit, and more focused forces applied to the teeth. Invisalign aligners due to the scalloped gingival margin, are far less retentive, and cannot apply forces further up the root surface of the tooth, limiting their ability to move teeth specifically in certain situations. The following article is included which further explains the above assertions. |
INITIAL ORTHODONTIC CONSULTATIONAt this visit we will take eight specific photos of your face and teeth, as well as a panoramic radiograph to submit to the orthodontic aligner manufacturer. Additionally we scan using our intraoral scanner both your upper and lower arches as well as an interarch relationship. Analog impressions are also made of your teeth to cross reference both types of impressions. Relationships between your teeth, crowding, spacing, midlines, molar and canine occlusal relationships, existing restorations, and arch relationships are all observed and documented.
All of your records are submitted to either “ClearCorrect” or “Invisalign” and a treatment plan is established through careful collaboration between Dr. Cappuccio and the manufacturer. Once the treatment plan is finalized, a second consultation is arranged such that the final treatment proposal can be discussed with you, all questions can be addressed, and a final fee for the case can be discussed. We will watch a brief slideshow of your teeth progressing through the treatment process and visualize the final treatment outcome. This video is extremely informative for patients as “seeing is believing” in many cases. |
COSTSThe cost associated with the treatment is generally dependent on how many sets of aligners are needed to straighten your teeth. The initial consultation and data gathering fee is $200, but that fee is applied to your case if you accept treatment. Cases generally cost between $2999-$3999. Payment plans and the use of third party financing companies are always an options. We want your care to be the primary focus at Seneca Ridge Dental, and aim to diminish financial concerns the best we can. Insurance companies often help pay for Orthodontics, but not entirely.
